BT Broadband Extender 200, 2 powerline adapters for £14.99
So you want to connect something to your home broadband network, say for example a smart TV, but you cannot connect by WiFi and you do not want to run a network cable around the house. One popular solution is to use the mains wiring in the house as a conduit for network data using powerline adapters.
As I write this PC World are doing a twin pack of plug in BT Broadband Extender 200 powerline adapters for just £14.99 with free delivery.
Powerline adapters are simple to set up. You plug one into the mains electric socket near your broadband router and connect the two together with one of the two Ethernet cables supplied with the adapters. Then you plug the second adapter in near whatever you are connecting to the broadband network and again connect up with the other Ethernet cable.
So if you want to watch BBC iPlayer on a Smart TV that doesn’t have a WiFi adapter, or use a laptop computer in a part of the house where the WiFi signal is unreliable this might be the answer to your problems.
