The Android secret picture trick
Did you know there is a secret picture hidden in your Android mobile phone or tablet computer? Since the release of Android 2.3 (codename Gingerbread) the boffins at Google who make the Android operating system have included a hidden picture, a so called Easter egg†, which represents the confectionery codename of that Android release.
Google gives each significant new Android release a codename, so far these have been:
- 2.3 Gingerbread
- 3.0 Honeycomb
- 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
- 4.1 Jelly Bean
- 4.4 KitKat
- 5.0 Lollipop
So what about this secret hidden picture? Well follow the steps below and up it will pop.
|1||Go into your Android phone or tablet’s settings screen and scroll down to find ‘About phone‘ or ‘About tablet’ and tap to enter that menu.|
|2||Scroll down again and find your ‘Android version‘.|
|3||Rapidly tap the version number several times and up will pop the hidden picture.|
|4||Now try a long press or swipe on the screen if you have Android version 4.0 or higher installed, another picture should appear, this time animated. If you have Android 4.4 (KitKat) go ahead and try yet another swipe.|
† Easter eggs are the name given to jokes or messages intentionally hidden by the writers in computer software and other media.
