Power socket covers, are they dangerous in UK plug sockets?

Parents, grandparents, childminders etc often fit plug in socket covers into the mains electricity sockets in there houses thinking they make the sockets safe from little fingers, but do they?

Well UK mains sockets have to confirm to a British Standard which insists the live and neutral holes are shuttered closed when no plug is inserted and so socket covers try to solve a problem that does not exist. Even worse the people behind the Fatally Flawed web site have discovered socket covers can be dangerous as demonstrated in the video below.

I believe all parents of small children should watch the video and share it with others.
